I know how you feel Kate, I too have had a battle with them. Unlike you, I do have some runner beans growing, though I did think at the start I wouldn't have any left. I must admit that I did put a few pellets down at the start but now I am using by donutsmrs

runner beans
Does anybody know if you can eat dried runner beans? We grow borlotti beans to use during the winter in casseroles, we grew a few kidney beans last year, is there any reason you can't do the same with runner beans? by PotterAngie

Fine Green beans in the shops
My missus loves these, so I want to grow them, what are they? Are they dwarf french beans or? Some I've seen in catalogues include Climbing bean Cobra and also dwarf bean Delinel. I only grow runners, despise broad beans, so am at a bit of a loss by BrummieBen

Runner Beans.
It has long been a mystery to me why the majority of gardeners secure the canes at the top. Far better to cross them half way down, as this is so much stronger, and the beans grow more free. My OH asked me tonight why I crossed the canes so low by cowslip2

Tulips and Beans
to grow the beans in the container. Try starting your beans off in pots & when tulips have finished remove some of the soil & mix in some decent compost eg horse manure compost (available from your local garden centre), Then re-plant tulips & put beans in by Andrew Martin

Runner & French Beans
. (ameter) There was this thread a while ago http://www.gardenersworld.com/forum/fruit-and-veg/best-runner-bean/68478.html .  I recommend Wisley Magic for good cropping and superb flavour, even in poor weather. As for French/Dwarf beans, I'm growing Beurre by Lalat
