Talkback: Harvesting broad beans
Any tips on dealing with the blackfly please? First time growing runner beans myself and have just cropped them but noticed blackfly on some of the beans and I think they have been left a little too long as some are nearly 12" long now. We live by Kate, gardenersworld.com

Hi, I wondered if anybody has any experience in growing soya beans, as this is my first attempt and I havent really got a clue what to do with them. At the moment they are about 4 inches tall in small pots in the greenhouse. Do I grow them up canes by GINA NEWMAN

Brill idea for runnerbeans
My clever neighbours came round today and told me they have built an archway OVER the main path through their veg bed to plant their runner beans. This will only steal about 20cm from the beds each side to grow a whole load of runners. Will try by artjak

ground for runner beans
Can someone please tell me how many years you can safely grow runners beans in the same piece of ground. Safely as in pest and disease build up? I can only relate my experience-I have grown beans on the same bit of ground for probably the last 15 by Lyn

Where have all my beans gone!.
'll be happy. Know what you mean about the weather, beans have done really well here though and as they grow up rather than taking up ground space are ideal for a small garden veg grower. by Zoomer44

Non climbing beans
I bought a packet of Thompson & Morgan climbing beans 'Fasoid' but they are just growing straight up and not climbing up the cane obelisk I made. I've tried tying them to the sticks but they just grow up and don't curl round it like my runners by diggingdoris
