Late seed sowing
Recently checked the dates in the past when I sowed carrots,
Beetroot
, spring onions, etc etc. A few years I did that in mid Feb but mostly in first week in March. I used cloches and fleece and had runner beans

Raised beds depth
growing
medium is getting deeper. Right from the start I could
grow
root veg like
beetroot
, but I always
grow
potatoes in potato bags for the depth. My raised beds are relatively shallow owing to the poor soil and the fact that we have had to put top soil

Stony and hard ground
I would love to
grow
a few vegetables and fruit but the ground is hard, stony and full of grass, weeds and moss. Apparently it probably has never seen a spade in it's live and neighbour reckons I'll end up with a sore back if I try and dig it over

grow
radicchio but this year I'm branching out and

various salad mixes. I use rocket on its own occasionally but more often as a highlight.

Starting seeds indoors
especially with tender veg like tomatoes-they wiil need good allround light to
grow
stocky plants Leeks and
beetroot
dont need heat to germinate-they would be better started off in the lean to-so you get strong- not soft growth from being too warm Ah ok great

what to intercrop with squash?
Hi, I've planted up 5 or 6 squash plants in a 2x1m raised bed. They're still little plants as yet, which leaves quite a lot of soil bare! What could I intercrop with them? Would
beetroot
/ carrots be quick enough, or would they get shaded out

Cabbage 'Greyhound'
Have a few 'Greyhound' cabbage and the centres all look like this one in the photo. I'm wondering if it's a fungus and if I will lose them? Does anyone know what this is and what I should do? I
grow
Greyhounds every year and if I didn't know
