Talkback: Growing veg in containers: keep it cropping
in containers this year, mine are all in raised beds, but my beetroots are just the best. I have never had such good beetroots they are just wonderful. In fact everything this year is growing so well. I did grow carrots in containers last year and they were just by lusia62

courgette seedlings
cucumbers and hot chilli peppers ( in pots). I grow beetroot, spring onions, radishes, and Chantanay carrots  (in troughs). Worked last year so doing again this year.  Really its a flower garden  My veg plot is one metre square, but my pot plot is around 2 by H7

Talkback: Growing brassicas
for keeping them out. I am growing broccoli, peas, sprouts, carrots & lettuce - they are all in pots of varying sizes and so far they are all healthy with not a slug in sight - though I have put copper tape round the pots to deter them. Heligan Gardens by Eve from Westerham Kent

Completely new to veg growing
there was a series in GW. carol Klein has something in her book as well. I found it easier to do 2 square foot gardening.  Dam can't find it at moment beetroot are good, lovely fresh and easy to grow Dove; I have always found that French Beans really like by jackie frost

a go. My wife roasts parsnips in honey and maple syrup. My vocabulary is not of a high enough degree to enable me to express the amazing flavour This is the first time that i am going to grow parsnips.I thought that it would be easy bit it is not by gardeningeek

Talkback: Preparing beds for planting
. In the first veg bed, I chitted some potatoes and now I have green leaves above the ground (all very exciting). In the other bed, I have Cougettes, which look like they have died. They were growing lovely on my window sill. Also added Carrot, spring Onion by joseph woosey

traditional plants. I always grow Shirley Tomatoes and Gardeners Delight-you can always depend on them for taste and results. This year tried 2 new varieies-yellow pear shape, very disappointing, and Matina which I will definitely be growing again next year by Barnwell Brian

to slugs. I have had made four sowings of beetroot and spinach and no luck. Runner beans sown in cold frame, were planted out, gale force winds struck and what was left was finished off by slugs. Onions have gone to seed, whilst my rhubarb is growing like by Shuv

New gardener new raised bed
!) but this is the 1st year I've grown any veg, everything was a bit late going in because of when we moved. We're on caly and we've had the same problem with the slugs and they wiped out my beetroot so I replanted and they are doing ok this time. I do confess by Sinevegas
