Hedging
side eventually, it'll be shaded out. Hawthorn is a good base for hedge you want lots of that, it's reliable, grows and thickens up quickly. Hazel coppices well so if it gets thin at the bottom you can cut it back to start again and make thicker growth by stuart 5

be cutting them down to ground level now ? if you are building a compost container out of pallets, do you put a pallet down as a base or just use the soil? can you grow raspberries in pots as I do not have a graden This may be a very silly question but, I'm a by Elisabeth

. But I do love nibbling at the sugar peas and cannot resist the odd plum or blackberry. definately a harvester,got to learn for next year to plant less or buy 2 more freezers. I am definately a grazer, however with the bi-daily spraying with washing up by Grannyanne

delicious. They do get out of control very easily as you can see in Perthshire where they grow in the hedgerows like blackberries, having escaped from the fields. but they are easier to dig out than brambles and not so prickly. My single raspberry plant has by blueberry77

Sorrel is lovely crop to grow in shade, even dry shade. In my garden it grows under a clematis montana which grows under an ornamental cherry. It requires no real attention and produces tangy, lemony, tender, heart shaped salad leaves by Pink Heather

Glut of apples
like me Soya cream they are lovely. Hi again. Make apple and blackberry jam, or apple chutney. There are plenty of recipes for apples on the internet. Enjoy!! They are extrardinarily early, are they fully ripe?  The book says picking time is mid by Hudson Belle

and potatoes ready to harvest before the blight. I too have noticed a massive yield of blackberries to go with the gigantic yield of apples. I made a huge pot of soup all from produce from the garden today - quite yummy. Sugar peas are great, not just by Greenwatch

and replaced all the fencing, i wanted something that would quickly hide the 'new fence' look. Along one side I have a quick growing honeysuckle that is thriving and along the back i have another honeysuckle and a cematis, blossom tree and a small apple tree by frustrated_gardener

Are sterile plants any good for wildlife?
as there is no point attracting insects? It will be such a shame to take them out, but they only went in as Foxgloves are o good for wildlide. Thanks for any replies PS. Sorry for all the spelling mistakes - damn tiny screen on my blackberry...! I certainly wouldn by Lunarz
