supporting fruit bushes

Hello, I brought an blackcurrant plant about 3 years ago now from the garden centre and I just planted it in my fruit patch A year ago I saw some flowers grow on a branch they soon deleloped into fruit but before i could harvest my first crop green by alex_wonga

hopefully it will grow in mine. Navrsi, that is cold!Pruning blackcurrants to a standard shape is not at all common, though I'm sure they look lovely. Some people prune at harvest time: in the summer take off a third of the older branches and cut them low in by sue

, but insipid. Wouldn't bother, grow black or red currants for wonderful fruit, enjoy the ribes for their spring flowers.  We recently bought a house with a garden which had a couple of true blackcurrant bushes and an ornamental ribes.  i severely pruned by sparky65

Herb - Sweet cicely
among my cllection of herbs I have been growing for several years is Sweet cicely. Pretty ferny foliage and white flowers at this time of year followed by black seeds.I have been told that you can use it to reduce the amount of suger when cooking by Trish3

Raspberries
I have limited space in my veg patch and wondered whether I would be able to grow raspberries and other soft fruit such as blackcurrants and gooseberries against a fence which gets about 4/5 hours sunshine a day.  I do not want to utilise one of my by lorrainespooner

Fruit for amatures
in the shops but easy to grow. Just cut them down to the ground in February every year and that's it. You don't even need supports for them. Another good choice are blackcurrants. Again fairly easy to grow and maintain. Pruning is relatively easy and can by ApprenticeSam
