help with ornamental tree choice
I have a small paved front garden with a with a square of soil in the middle apx 1 sq.mtr and would like a tree or large shrub that flowers  and is attractive most of the year. Nothing that grows too big as it is only 1 mtre from bay window , any by Stevetheclueless

MY PIERIS FOREST FLAME HAS GONE YELLOW!
gro feed and have been feeding it every 2 weeks as advised on the box. Please can anybody help me turn it back to red?? not sure but I would take it out of the ground and re-pot in a pot with ericacious compost then put the pot back in the place where by Danielle888

Advice for a novice
such as the small hollies are good, christmas box, any of the smaller euonymous, golden laurel  - lots of choices for pots, worth looking around some good web sites for what is on offer now. The reality is that you can grow anything in a pot as long as you by Stewart Forward

of planting and style, some of the most interesting plant combitions are a complete juxtaposition. For example what you may quite often see is box forms and hard lines with loose perrenial planting within or around them, I have seen 18th century roses by julieasayers

When do you buy your seeds?
at growing all typres of flowers and vegetables, but I alway feel like I'm just a bit late with sowing my seeds. I'm interested in growing herbs, hanging basket plants, carrots, peas, betroot and parsnips. Maybe next year try potatoes. So to get organised by Tina_i_am

route - you can buy it in boxes from your garden centre. It's part of the Chempak range. Thanks Alina.  Yeah I think you are right about the fertility of the soil - we certainly have no problem getting things to grow!!!  Trying to keep the growth under by sunshine in the garden

What DO they put in bags of mixed birdseed?!
growing!!  Can any one help with getting squirrelsnto leave my bulbs alone? I canb not put wire netting down ,have tried red pepper, special scarerer stuff , and nothing seems to help. Tried a Red-Back hawk? I dont mind the odd squirrel, but when by Freespirit

Inspiration needed! Sunken patio/lawn edging
to plant that would provide enough of a deterrent/barrier whilst still letting light through. Other suggestion is to build a sort of 'window box' along the top of the wall, but again, what to plant it with? Any ideas/suggestions would be gratefully received by Smithers
