Begonia tubers
I thought I had purchased plug plants but they are bulbs. The last time I order Begonia tubers less than half germinated. The instructions say to plant in shallow boxes containing a mixture of loam/ leaf mould/sand. Can I buy a mixture like this by lindapalmara

potato varieties
://www.potatoday.org/ I like Manna first early did well for me when I grew them this year and Kestral second early. Use old egg boxes for chitting potatoes. I've grown Anya potatoes which are expensive in shops. I also grow in potato bags. We love Ulster Prince....a first by cloud8

California Blue Bells
be greatly apreciated. Do you know their botanical name because that might help us to give advice. Hi punkdoc, it says on the box that they are phacelia companularia, hope that helps. The Phacelia that I know are not invasive, have beautiful flowers by donutsmrs

Tomato/Chilli Transplants not growing!
homemade tin foil lined box by a south facing window to grow on. This was almost a month ago and as far as I can see, there has been little or no growth at all in all that time. Is there a reason for this?   I would even say the foliage looks ever so by Tom Freeman

overwintering
is growing well. Should I have treated it as my Canna Lily and kept it in slightly damp soil in a frost free place over winter? The Canna Lily is now growing strongly. I was under the same impression and on inspecting mine today found it had rotted away by willowplanter

Tree/shrub suggestion
Please can anyone suggest a small tree, shrub  (maybe 3'-4' ) to be grown in a container. I would like colour year round. The garden is south facing.. Thank you. Do you like formal or informal? If formal you can grow box clipped into various shapes by GiilyP

Plant identification
title box then a description box but that does not appear on the main thread-seems utterly pointless filling this in and it would be better if the opening post appeared on the listing. Have pointed this out in the past btw and also yesterday about by Dizzy Dave

Beechgrove Garden Goes National.
checked FB page. I really enjoyed the programme. The garden was in the same condtion as mine and if they can grow crops so can I. I'll be watching regularly. It was on BBC Scotland, repeat on Sunday - on BBC 2 I think. They packed masses into it especially by Highland Jeannie
