Sowing seeds in toilet rolls
think , i just find them fiddly for potting on later. Sweet peas, beans can go straight into ground, pot etc. I have planted some sweet peas in toilet rolls (aswell as normal pots) will see how they go. I do runner beans and broad beans by Throstle2

Strange broad bean
Spot the odd one out! One of my broad beans has come up yellow rather than green. I'll grow it on to see what becomes of it but has anyone else ever had this happen?     The odd seed of anything can do this - it's a genetic mutation and may mean by steephill

. Broad beans are not usually grown in this area but the plants seem to be growing and producing well in temperatures exceeding 90F (32C) and as yet we haven't experienced any pest or disease problems although the runner beans growing alongside them have by Kate, gardenersworld.com

winter veg
am i too late now to plant winter veg like brussell sprouts,or parnips, am a bit new to growing winter veg , and had great success with runner beand in the summer Far too late -I am afraid-you could try sowing some broad beans now for harvest next by elizabeth 4

What fruit veg could i plant in a shady garden(peas, strawberries)?
can trim so i doesn't get to big. we get the sun in the morning, but not that often though, hope you can help. thanks   Broad beans & peas should be ok but french beans prefer full sun. Could try dwarf broad bean variety. Tomato plants worth a try by jpharro

Leggy broad bean plants
I planted broad beans in small pots in a cold greenhouse in November.  They grew very fast and, despite having pinched out the tips, they are now about eighteen inches tall.  I have moved them to the cold frame but wonder if I should cut them down by Poppy's Mum

of the country are you in? And  do you have a greenhouse? Hi..I live on the North Wales coast and I dont have a greenhouse. Thanks Daintiness  Then hold off on the tomatoes until the end of March for outdoor growing and any other tender veg Broad beans are fine by flowergirl4
