Is it warm enough ?
to still protect them incase of frost hoped this helped I have started with onion sets, broad beans, mange tout peas and potatoes. I have planted out baby lettuces. As soon as it warms up, it must do eventually, it'll be all systems go! i agree have by light42

Broad Beans
I have started of some broad beans in my propagator and they are now in pots on my window sill as they are growing rather quick. When can i plant them outside please. Hello Paslode, Broad beans are pretty hardy. I've got some on my veg plot by paslode

Marigolds in the veg patch
fly off broad beans. I fit wasn't for this lurgy they would have been in by now. Will keep you posted. Tagetes does deter white fly, not sure about marigods though but am tryin them this year as well. Also bought what DT brown call an aphid mix am by Verdun

a fantastic flavour.  I grow Swiss chard throughout most of the year, and broad beans as again, you cannot get really fresh ones in the shops.  I will also grow some of the more unusal varieties of lettuce.  I always grow a couple of courgette plants by osso

growing this year despite the warm weather.Do I need to feed them -I tried using tomato feed and I am going to use chicken pellets.Is this a good Idea, as I want my veg organic.My broad beans are growing after an initial pest was eating the leaves by Josephine from Wilts

broad beans
Hi only been growing veg for couple of years now but first year that im growing broad beans and my grandad loves them. Is it right if you pinch the tops out it will stop black fly if so when should i do this. They are about 3 foot high with flowers by shaun_lincoln

Best runner bean
- that I can't remember Find me a string-less bean that taste good and repels blackfly- and I 'll have it I tried Painted Lady and Scarlet Empire this year, they were both good croppers and tasty. Much prefer runner and french beans to broad beans.   I grew by Verdun

Broad beans
Is it recommended to pinch out the growing tips of broad beans? Hi Russell, only when they are fully grown (ie about 3-4ft tall) and that is only to prevent blackfly infestation.  I usually wait until one plant has a sign of blackfly, then pinch out by Russell Parry
