Buddleja davidii- prunning
I have a rather pathetic looking a self seeded Buddleja which was cut right down a few years back (as it had become very over grown) this left a 2-3ft tall trunk with a few sparse stem. I want to fix it so it'll will grow into a more convetional by rosel

Talkback: Butterflies
Our buddleja has proved very popular with butterflies in the past few days - think they were Peacocks - very attractive. While not teeming, there were at least 5 or 6 at any one time. It's our garden's first full year, so not sure if this is a by John Waters

, some are very tough. Have a peek at a website like Peter Beales or David Austin for rose ideas. Good luck.   Buddleja davidii will grow anywhere, including from the mortar in the side of a chimney near where I live! Very true about buddleia. I like by Liz Tunks

Hardy Fushias
in case. Just call it Dad's fuschia! I grow Greyrigg & Hawkeshead. GR definitely is hardy, came trough the last couple of winters up here. Late at restarting in spring, but very delicate white/pale pink flowers. There's a good sized shrub of it at Harlow by jackie frost

sambucus black lace cutting back? confusing advice
buddleja. This method tends to get the best leaf colour out of them.  Secondly is to let it get on with it and just give it a light prune here and there to keep it in check. If the thought of cutting it right back is a little daunting you could always just by Standen1

shrub suggestions
to think about the height you want them to grow, colours, where your sun/shade is. then sit down with some garden catalogues/books and browse and decide what would suit you. There are loads of shrubs that attarct the bisrd and the bees. Bjay Sedums by Bill Mansfield
