Talkback: Slugs and hedgehogs
. The first week we started this we collected and disposed of over 100 slugs! This idea was suggested by a nursery that grows Hosta's. I can confirm that our Hosta's and bedding plants have remained in full contact with their leaves since the start of nightly by Di Barker

What is this plant and how can I stop it dying?
here 4 years and it doesn't seem to be growing tall like a tree. Could it be something else? I think it's only certain varieties that grow taller, such as the cabbage tree.  I know mum had a red one (but lost it the year before last over the winter by Stephanie Sherwin

Talkback: Blackbirds and blackberries
I say let the birds eat the berries. Birds add so much to the garden. In fact I think I'll grow some blackberries just for the birds next year in my garden. This year has been great for young ones in my garden ive had sparrows, blue tits, great tits by Grannyanne

All year round??
that you grow through the summer and then harvest throughout the winter, like Brussels Sprouts, winter cabbages such as Savoy and January King, and Kale.  Summer sowings of chard will stand most winters and provide you with pickings in mild spells by Squawk

Talkback: Digging and not digging
satisfactory depth. That means buying mulch/compost which seems a bit counter productive if growing your own is supposed to be a cost saver. For the very elderly or infirmed I do see that it has its advantages but to me nothing beats a good dig. And who knows by Gardening Green-horn

The light fingered kohl rabi thief.
I have (had) a patch of kohl rabi growing in my polytunnel 1 - 3 " in diameter. Due to the wet nature of our local climate I choose ventilation over temperature and only close the doors at night on very cold nights. Last night a very careful thief by Briggsy

Gardening in Afghanistan
- no idea really - the veggies we're used to growing need or sort of climate - have a look and see what the locals are growing. I'll have another think and if I come up with anything else I'll post again.  Apparently you can grow cabbages and radishes by Budgieo
