Where are my vegetables?
of the staples come through. One thought, did you 'chit' the potatoes when you put them in, and have they gone into the ground, or did you put them in potato planters/tyres?  Did you enrich the ground before planting anything?  Carrots will grow in almost by Diane Horsley

Hello, I'm new to growing veg and I planted out some Early Nants, but they have all gone. I suspect some thing has eaten them, do you think it most likely pigeons (or magpies)? I've seen one sitting on the GH and we have loads of magpies. I hadn by Tina_i_am

Vine Weevil
We have these  pesky things in our Strawberry troughs and were wondering if we could put some carrots, parsnips or leeks in there instead as none of the info we have found mentions them eating vegetables.  Please does anyone know?  Hi Tracey, vine by Tracey Curnock

Clayey soil
well in clay, particularly cabbages and brussels. Don't bother with carrots until the soil has been improved for a couple of years, they just won't grow well from my experience I too have clay soil.  I have found peas seem to do really well. by METAL MAN GARDENER

Talkback: Home-grown Christmas dinner
for several years. My husband did most of the back-breaking work but, together, we managed to create some growing space (even using tyres in which to grow carrots) so that we harvested swede, carrots, lettuce, pak choi, herbs and a few potatoes over the winter by Christina

vegetables and horse manure
a bit of horse manure to the compost bins. Best not to sow carrots in freshly manured soil.  They often grow in a "fork" shape then, so although their weight/volume might be OK, the useable part (after any peeling etc) will be less than it would by Tractorboy
