Plant suggestions to cover an arch
.  Height at top of arch is approx 6ft.  I had thought of a climbing rose or clematis but there is not much sun in the site I have a similar problem at the bottom of my garden since we reclaimed a bit of land next to the summerhouse. I've been researching by snodgrass

climbing plants
To the side of my garage door (facing south-west) I have ivy growing from a small patch of earth up a trellis fixed to a brick wall.  I now want a change so the ivy has to go and have thought of having a hardy evergreen clematis in a pot by break23

Unsightly pipe work - Recomendations?
as it has plenty of holes for drainage) then you could plant ivy, clematis or hydrangea Petiolaris (evergreen)which is the climbing one with white flowers and would suit your NW aspect. There are plenty of clematis which would grow well but only a few by ittim

Clematis Florida Sieboldii
lots of nourishment.  I think these are lovely. Are they hardy enough for garden use? All clematis require a lot of food to produce decent flowers so, if they're in pots, you need to make sure they get a liquid feed every week through the growing by gatehill

Your top performing BLUE clematis
and alpina get excited and juicy and full of new foliage and flwoer buds just in time to be knocked out by a severe late frost and we always get a -15 or so in late March or even early April that does for them.  I grow lots of clematis but not the cirrhosa by happycottontail
