Talkback: Planting out tomatoes
, look ok but not much growth, cold and dark here as ever, courgettes out, some growth but not much - everything else struggling for light in the greenhouse or cold frame.  They will have to go out, bar the tomatoes which I grow inside anyway by oldchippy

seedling help?
plants that are ok to start growing now. Thanks Lisa Hi Lazy Gardener! Thanks for the sense of reality, but I will decline.  I don't think I should be unable to accept my allotment just because I am a beginner.  I have grown successful courgettes by Lisa Ward

Cells or Flats and for what?
to grow on - seedlings are surprisingly resilient if handled properly. I suppose it depends on what space you have and what you want to grow. I've got a greenhouse with an electric propagator, and have already started sweet peas, garden peas, mange tout by blackest

Powdery mildew
if it works or not Pam x The milk needs to have some fat in it as far as I know, just to confuse matters further It didn't work for me, but I probably wasn't persistent enough. My courgettes always seem to get it & I just cut those leaves off by lilylouise

Tomatoes not setting fruit
I have three varieties of tom in the GH this year: Marmande which are doing fine if a bit slowly, Yellow Brandywine and a black type called Carbon are healthy but worrying. The latter two (growing for the first time) have been in heavy flower now by paull2

Talkback: Sweetcorn crash
start than many others? I learned from previous years that when you have had a long wet spell it is very easy to think that they have had enough water and not physically check the soil; I grow on raised beds which do tend to drain faster! best sweetcorn by Wendy Newton
