Talkback: Courgettes and marrows
my courgettes this year have produced only male flowers so the yield has been almost nil can anyone suggest a way to get more produce. I have grown Courgettes since the early 70's when the local farmers kept telling me you had to grow marrows by poplars

Courgette 'Parador F1 Hybrid' surprising!
I've grown courgettes for years, but this year I'm growing Parador for the first time - a yellow courgette.  What is surprising me is that we have virtually no male flowers, loads of female flowers all of which are producing useable sized courgettes by Dovefromabove

Courgettes
have read about it and it does seem to be a common practice. I suppose if your compost heap is in a shady position then the courgette might not do so well. If you google growing courgettes on compost heaps I'm sure you'll get more explicit advice by Heather4

Courgette Black Hawk
Has anybody else tried growing Black Hawk?  I have never had any problem growing courgettes before but these seeds have been in pots for a month and are showing no signs of germinating.  They're inside on the windowsill, alongside the squash which by Botticelliwoman
