Cucumbers
plant them into grow bags I can bury the plants up to the first seedling leaves. Any thoughts? Could be that you used heat and then moved them to a cool window, i never grow mine with heat just pot them and cover with cling film and put on a window cill by gatehill

Fertilisers
fertiliser etc ?? I am growing tomatoes, chillies, peppers, courgettes, onions, dwarf beans, lettuce, carrots, parsnips, spinach, physalis, strawberries ...... this year ??? What should I use on what ?? What is really essential ?? To ease your confusion by carolinebell55@hotmail.com

Gourds !!
. They are a nice size at present, five in all and look like courgette plants. I've got mine in the GH and bring them indoors if forcast frost. I'm not sure whether they'll grow up a trellis or whether they grow on the ground. I don't even know how tall by JAYPRINCESS

am barmy and maybe i am. I will also grow onions and shallots potatoes, runner beans, courgette and braod beans plus the odd little bit of salad too. If I did grow crop's in the garden it would be left to rot as you can alway's buy by Pink Heather

Growing veg with little space
Can I realistically grow much in containers? I don't have much luck with tomatoes so thought I would stick to salad leaves etc, but also love carrots, cucumber, onions, sweet peppers, courgettes and beetroot in particular. I've bought varieties by laarobbins

filled with the previous year's manure where I had grown courgettes. The plant didn't grow particularly tall - about 7 feet - but the flower head was HUGE, 21 inches across excluding petals. My three children have challenged each other to a competition by MargieKerr

useful for protecting the courgettes against the recent winds.As plants grow, I raise the cloches on bricks and secure them with bricks at two of the corners to prevent them taking off in the wind!As for watering, well we have been watering every night by dinny

Advice on building a raised bed
of bought top soil and organic farmyard manure - not cheap, but it'll last much longer and provide better growing conditions for the plants.  I've got fantastic crops already this year, including the best courgettes I've ever grown. by Kris3

new to growing veg have also sowed some courgette sweet peppers tomatoes broccoli cauliflower and leeks I grew these last year on a spare piece of my allotment and they produced a lot of smallish cucumbers, very tasty, but I found that if ;left to grow by chilli lover
