Ideas for planters on patio?
mix of dianthus and lavendar?  I'm sure the smell would be lovely as well as looking good. My favourite for planters and children are, tomatos, peas and strawberries. If your planters are big enough YELLOW courgettes. This way they can see things grow by LucyLocket5

a very miserable lady.
- I have lots of nice lettuces.! It has been gruesome hasn't it? At times like this I'm very grateful for my very freedraining soil, at least it doesn't get waterlogged. At least the slugs are happy... Roses rotting; courgettes; yuk!  Grass ousing by dudsybabe1

Talkback: Plant supports
have withstood the ferocious winds of the past few summers. Anyone found anything better than a compost heap to grow courgettes on? I garden in Bulgaria, could not find canes in the shops near here,so used branches and string. My beans are right up by mikegrahambarrett

Maggots in veg patch
would grow. It's full of stones (mostly limestone from the builders) and is a heavy clay soil. To improve the soil quality in the beds we were advised to use an organic farmyard muck first and dig this in well, which we did. Then we had some rich organic by cupcakesarah

What not to grow
out of the ground and tasted of nothing when cooked. Now you'll be thinking it's just me, but I grow lovely carrots, tomatoes, courgettes, chillis, peas, beans, parsnips, potatoes and salads. I just can't seem to be successful with anything more by Green Magpie

Timing for seedling planting with this weather?
With the current climate and rain fall - when should I plant out warm weather seedlings? Currently have courgette and pumpkin seedlings at 4 leaf stage, and corn at 3 leaf stage which I am switching between outside and inside depending by Kiwi gardener

Potato confusion
to find a variety and ordered by weight and ended up with twice a many as I wanted. 20 each of five varieties weighed 6 kilos, that may also include the box they came in. Can't really comment on 'Orla' I did grow it once, years ago, never since so I must by Greenbucket
