Talkback: Growing veg in containers: keep it cropping
Due to extremely chalky soil I am growing all of my veg in containers. This is my first time growing veg, done cucumbers and sweet peppers in containers and salad leaves in a basket. Working well so far, cucumbers will be ready in a few weeks by lusia62

Powdery mildew
Quite a few of my Cucumber leaves have developed powdery mildew already I don't want to use a chemical spray and seem to remember something about using full cream milk and water - I think the ratio was 1 part milk to 9 parts water . Does anyone by lilylouise

Green houses
an offer  £8oo on 2 wests and Elliott but it is a bit too dear although the green frame appeals and maybe good quality, I wonder about poly against glass are there any for and againsts. Linda Hi, I'm looking at size 10'-8' I,d like to grow tomatoes by Anita Leakey

courgette seedlings
cucumbers and hot chilli peppers ( in pots). I grow beetroot, spring onions, radishes, and Chantanay carrots  (in troughs). Worked last year so doing again this year.  Really its a flower garden  My veg plot is one metre square, but my pot plot is around 2 by H7

accidentally let my leeks go to seed and the flower heads were so beautiful and bee-friendly that I have deliberately left a couple of leeks to flower every year since then! This year i have grown tomatos in my raised bed with cucumbers just to see if they grow by abbed

are easy to grow and they can last for years. I've got my broad beans in pots this year. I have grown tomatoes & cucumbers in pots as well as spring onions & salad leaves. I grew potatoes in bags last year & have got some on the go this year too.I have by chutneyhunter

Talkback: Blackfly on broad beans
wonder if wasps also eat the blackfly as our beans are clean this year but we have 2 wasp nests one in a concrete bird box & one in an old dovecote. If I am to continue growing Vegs I must get a way of controlling SLUGS. Would it help if I grew a lot by hereisabee
