Growing veg with little space
Can I realistically grow much in containers? I don't have much luck with tomatoes so thought I would stick to salad leaves etc, but also love carrots, cucumber, onions, sweet peppers, courgettes and beetroot in particular. I've bought varieties by laarobbins

Early sowing
'll also try sowing a few inside but not on a heated surface. Its always frustrating seeing solid, compact-looking brassica seedlings in garden centres around March/April so I'm trying to replicate! I started off some chilli, tomato and cucumber seeds in a by gatehill

composting
heaps a bit at a time. Just a thought - I now have compost ready to use from last year and was thinking about using some of it to grow cucumbers and courgettes in a cold frame (later) do I need to add anything to it or is it ok as it is? Amazing how by nightgarden

Talkback: Local plants (for local people)
in site.My garden is too wet to be able to make a start, my heavy clay like a quagmire, slipped over several times already, so folks be careful out there. Collecting seed of local provenance ticks all the boxes. Not only does it guarantee growing tough by alanthomas

First time grower and in need of advice!
't crop well. As you r plot is south west facing it will get very hot in the summer and will require copious amounts of water. Your plastic greenhouse though would be good to grow cucumbers in if you like them but beware things in plastic scorch easily by emraa

Possible to sow more peas and beans
(junglseeds)  The purple podded plants are about 5ft tall and don't seem to want to stop growing.    Aslo have Pea Sugar Snap(simply seed) and pea's 'early onward' (Wilko's) these are at least 4ft tall and in flower. I've picked the imature pods to encourage more flowers by lesinnl
