OOOh I did laugh at the jobs for next week--- pruning flowering currant and forsythia! Ours, and also even daffodilts, are nowhere near flowering- the incessant snow and cold being the culprits. I think mine might be ready to prune about June!!!! I by MaggieL

agree that Gardenia can be overpowering indoors - ok for a litle while and then it gets too much. The common flowering currant shrub is one most people do not want to be close to. Some people find the smell of pelargoniums off-putting but the ones by Garden Hero

replanting after hedge removal
plants and preparing the bed would be welcome. I think roots will be a problem but digging them out is not an optio! Libby, I have known Currants and Gooseberries do well on a north west side but they were well off the fence and did get some sun. Most by libbyhawthorn@gmail.

No fruit on my redcurrant
My redcurrant is now about 2.5 years old and I think it should show some signs of fruiting. Last year I pruned it and therefore didn't get any fruits at all. This year I have locked the secatearus away but still no sign of currants. The bush locks by Swedboy

gardener actually!).  Reasonably heavy black netting works well, squirrels did eventually chewed through one corner but have left the repair alone, don't know why but we are grateful.. We grow apples, red, black and white currants, blueberries, gooseberries by sparker

Thank you for the useful websites, James. in the Rockies National Park in Canada you can see forest gardening as done by nature - gooseberries, black currants, raspberries, abound under the trees as well as lots of fungi and edible tips of fern by karenwilde

wisest use of space
