Talkback: The first bumblebee of the year

Garden Problem Area

to the same standard as they will happily come through your neighbours gardens and walk up the road to get to yours. Deterent sprays are a waste of time and money as you need to keep re-applying all year round. grow climbing plants they can't reach, I find by Penny 57

planting a raised flower bed
is seasonal flowers in the photo it is Dahlias but now it has daffodils. In the third layer I have climbers the photo shows sweet peas but I am hoping to take a cutting of an evergreen clematis 'Freckles'. As you can spot it has a red and pink theme. Beware by ilovemontydon

prefer moister soil, part shade, so it depends on variety. Again those in sun apparently need storing dry over winter. Freesia- grow in sheltered, sunny garden spot. 5cm/2ins deep late April/May. No point in trying to keep- discard once flowers finished by PaperFlowers

live in quite a high area in Central Scotland. Oh for a bit of warmth- and I think the plants are wishing the same. Mines the same Maggie, the yellow buds are only just visible. As for deadheading daffodils, hardly any out yet. Forsythia and floweriing by MaggieL

Plants still in flower

Winter wonders
just reported from a winter walk in Surrey and found these snowdrops near Godstone.growing wild.   Lovely sunny 9th of January and my white heather is in full bloom at the front gate.   Berberis Darwinii now in flower. Daffodils floweriing. Some by happymarion
