Talkback: Growing tomatoes: dos and don'ts
!! I keep telling him how good they are for you, full of cancer fighting Licopene. Mmmm sounds good Dahlia Lover. I'd love to be able to grow so many tomatoes that I could make pasta sauce to freeze to use over the winter. I've got about 10 plants by growing tomatoes

Purples in my garden but what colour for you?
.....allium Purple Sensation, the near purple salvias, the tall purple lobela ( forget its name at moment), Baptisia Australlis, penstemons, dahlias (not too many) osteospermums, asters etc. They add a richness to the garden tempered by yellow foliage what better by Verdun

Morrisions
, they never grew and when I inspected them they were just cuttings with no roots.  Coupled with the dreadful summer they never did grow more than 3/4 inches so were a waste of money.  Recently a friend told me about the dahlia tubers there and, forever by Ryan Lloyd

What do you think of this combination?
with clematis Hagley hybred [pinky/lilac] and Warsaw Nike [rich plum] growing through it.I did once try a small acer but the summer heat was too strong for it so I moved it to my front garden where its very happy. I agree with lilysilly about hardy geraniums by Tina_i_am

Flowers in small pots!

Greenhouse beginner
the soil lately (things should be growing by now), a lot of the pots are surprisingly wet to the touch.  I tipped one out today to find a rotten dahlia bulb and am worried about the rest but don't want to tip them out unless I have to.  What have I done by kjdintown
