Hi Kate we have two Escallonia growing along the fence with tubular flowers mixed in with dogwood and cotinus and a flowering cherry and pyracantha and cotoneaster all growing happy together ,they have been in about 7 years and are well over grown by oldchippy

variagated dogwood tree

/108.html   Gardengirl, I grow several varieties of dogwood ....those grown for their coloured wood ......and cut back to the ground every year. Then I feed and stand back. Keep well watered, if possible. You should get 6' straight coloured stems by Jammy2

is 25 meters. Hello tommysmith, It may not be to your taste, but Photinia x fraseri is known for fast growth. I've also found dogwoods such as Cornus sanguinea, to grow very quickly. They are supposed to prefer moist soil, but even in my dry, free by tommysmith

Problem Plants

but worried about the roots greeting into the French drains, have also just purchased red dogwood as have read they can help.Any ideas? Any  tree will be thirsty but will obviously have quite a lot of root. As I posted on another thread, I know someone who had by Mario Theodorou

of growing anything! There's quite a lot of clay underneath the top soil we put in. I have some heucheras and geranium and they seem to be fine but I will look into the bigger plants you mentioned for a bit of structure.Thank you! Sounds ideal for dogwoods by clarerees

How should I prune this
Any advice please as to how I can prune this Dogwood standard ( I think it is)   I would prune each branch back to within a few buds leaving the main stem intact.. New strong shoots should grow and look as it does now. I would do it now or soon by Bev Pounsett-Krynauw
