sound and draw the eyes down a bit. Has anyone had experience of using ferns this way- someone said growing from plugs is quite difficult but they grow better in the long run. Any advice gratefully received. I found this. I've been toying with doing one by DOTTYPLOT

tree fern
many of them(last year there were 8)any ideas to give it a bit of a boost? Are you feeding your tree fern well?  And watering it well?  From having seen them growing naturally they like to grow in the shade.  Is yours in the shade? by GillyL

Pond planting
Hi all, I've just had to reline one of my ponds and I'm looking for a fern suitable for growing in a pile of rocks which form the waterfall. The area is NOT constantly immersed in water, though it does get splashed and damp, it is shaded and faces by Ron Hagley

NNE facing and clay soil- help!
Yes, clay soil and NNE facing... Many plants do well: helebores, ferns, geranium, phlox, globe thistle, euphorbia; some do okay: astrantia, roses, geums. I need some suggestions. Have you grown plants successfully in similar conditions? If it helps by catnip

Talkback: Ferns in pots
that no plant prefers dry shade to damp shade is really useful, there are some plants that will survive it better though. Trial your plants or perhaps search out published lists for your particular location, personally I grow ferns, hardy geraniums, crocosmia by David Doncaster

Ferns
Any Ideas as to how I can get rid of several very large ferns that are growing out of the stone walls in my garden.  I have tried digging them out but the just come back even bigger and better than ever.  Any weed killers that work on them.  Don by Elizabeth Winstanley

Tree Ferns
August 2012. I think the bizarre weather has thrown it's growing habits out of sync. No new growth visible as yet! Sawing the trunk? I'd want a professional to give the thumbs up on this: as you know, these ferns take a loooong time to get to anything by Rozzy
