pruning
OOOh I did laugh at the jobs for next week--- pruning flowering currant and forsythia! Ours, and also even daffodilts, are nowhere near flowering- the incessant snow and cold being the culprits. I think mine might be ready to prune about June!!!! I by MaggieL

Talkback: Frightful forsythia
can't agree with you more about the visually assault badly pruned Forsythia makes on the eyes nearly everywhere one turns. Do people actually believe Forsythia are supposed to be square? I love forsythia. I love my forsythia. It grows in a spot only by les1ey

Border plants
will grow fast.  Thank you for your help.    On reflection, I think in your case I would go for a Forsythia, it's fast growing, gives a bit of colour in Spring - sometimes autumn colour as well, and it can be cut back if necessary.   It's not evergreen by kru

I really love these but have never managed to grow them in my own garden. I buy from reputable sellers, have tried direct in ground and in pots/troughs but never had any grow. What am I doing wrong? In desperation I am having some from my neighbour by RN58RAN

Ceanothus dead
are dying off. Was this due to the cold weather or has it been overshadowed by my forsythia bush which appears to have spread over the ceanothus. Or is there some other reason.   The RHS page says the following "They are fast-growing but may be short by patannie

Talkback: Tree buds in spring
. I love it when the leaves erupt in a fat bunch on my tree peony and in no time at all the fat buds of the flowers appear. I also like the shrubs that have flowers before the leaves like forsythia, flowering quince and Cornus chinensis. At the moment by ml1627k
