Talkback: Frogs and slugs
do keep the slugs at bay. I also try to grow plants that slugs and snail don't like, lavender, lambs ears, astilbe, ferns etc. I have tried to encourage as much wildlife as possible into my garden and have lots of bird feeders, sun flowers, poached by Lizzie the gardner

what to grow
When my tatties, onions and garlic are ready in a couple of weeks can somebody advice what other veg I could put in then. many thanks lettuce, carrots, radishes and spring onions bluejan If you sow some leek seed now a few weeks you should be ready by bluejan

help? Things to plant now are broad beans and peas (but not mangetout yet). Also beetroot, parsnip and early carrot varieties can go in now. Shallots, onions sets and garlic can go in now (last chance now for garlic as normally they go in in the spring by super mum

What fruit veg could i plant in a shady garden(peas, strawberries)?
.  This year I'm going to try some fruit, rhubarb, strawberries, blackcurrents & redcurrents.  I have already planted onion sets and garlic cloves so fingers crossed.  Hi, I was really suprised about the cherry tomatoes as I thought they needed lots of sun by jpharro

Picking kale
 http://growcookeatit.blogspot.co.uk/2012/04/curly-kale-hero-of-veg-patch.html .  As it says, take some of the leaves from the stems to start with (not the oldest, but not the youngest) that way the growing tip will keep growing and provide you with lots of fresh growth through the winter by CottageGardenFairy

amounts of blue pellets  and after eraidcating huge quantities of slugs/snails now spray with a home made garlic mix or seaweed spray.  Depends where you grow your strawberries too. If in a patch. I used to put the ripping fruit into jam jars, it speeds up by AbelB

hi all, im a new mum and want to grow as much as i can to feed my son. im pretty new to this however everything ive grown in the past my dog decided eat! Because of my dog and my soil is really clay based im doing everything in pots or baskets as i by realnewbie87
