Plants for complete shaded areas
of the day. Sarcococca hookeriana (Christmas Box) also do well in shaded areas - they're slow growers and are highly scented ground covering plants  Helleborous Niger (christmas rose) is a rather easy to grow, shade loving plant.. Lamium will do well in shade by chippysteve1

signs of life
and crocosmia I think growing through and the garlic is looking good. It has snowed very discreetly this p.m. but I want to be out there gardening! Yes - come on spring. My Hellebore are beautiful. Even my snowdrops haven't opened yet I managed to do 3 hours by nigelcoad

Shade loving plants
have a similar space and I grow hellebores, ferns, cyclamens, Japanese anemones ( these need staking but they flower well), erythroniums, geranium phaeum 'Lily Lovage', geranium endressii, pulmonaria, sarcococcus and variegated euonymus and at the back by Sizeyuk1

couple of packets of wild flower seeds than this lot. What's drab about hellebores, snowdrops, alliums and sedums? i think this is a lovely piece and shall be growing all of these plants in my small garden! Re: trees for small gardens, I have a crepe by akebia

Internet purchasing
nurseries and plant fairs during the spring and early summer.  The down side of this is that I don't plan then order. I buy then plan and some plants sit around in pots for ages before they find a home. Yes I buy online. Got new hellebore few days ago by Brumbull

Talkback: Stinky plants
in flower. When I put it outside, it smelled wonderful, but indoors it was way too overpowering. I think Gardenia can be a bit too much indoors too. I love my Hellebores but cannot stand the smell of H.Foetidus and don't like the smell of "Sweet" Peas. I by Garden Hero

Underplanting silver birch
Planted small silver birch clump late last autumn (10 trees). Any suggestions for underplanting this (hopefully) dappled shade area? Looking for something low growing, low maintenance, giving cover but not boring. I have similar situation by cat woman

will surely ask you what it is if you grow it Right now I have some contrasting with hellebores, daffs, etc etc. and would not want to be without them The leaves have red, gold, olive and bronze shades. Check them out They are lovely, and I used to grow them by Verdun
