Larkspur and Monkshood
for the following year, try bringing them in and give em the window sill treatment. Oh great Lyn  Thankyou. That would explain why nothing has come up. I will give it another go and fetch them into the house. Thanks.x Larkspurs, I find them strange plants to grow by Sam Glendinning

plants for part shade/ full shade
yellow grass, a carex I think, growing really well in a dry shade similar situation. It does depend on why it's shade/what's causing it. Under deciduous trees lots of the spring bulbs pop up, flower then die back as the tree canopy above closes up by Gardengirl..

Where have all the hostas gone?
. The growing tips of Hosta are just out of the soil (shady position, windy hillside). In flower at moment - daffodils, primrose, pushkinia, chionodoxa, anemone de Caen, hellebores, erythronium won't be long. by dizzylizzy

Winter wonders
for birdseed yet. My first day of 2013 as a volunteer at the Bristol Botanic garden and I knew it would not disappoint.  First the lovely hellebores -       Then the beaiutiful Iris unguilaris   And this lovely winter shrub I had not noticed before by happymarion

or even 20.. oh arh... it has done it twice.. can i just stick hellebores in there sneakily.. as i adore them.. Lilly Of The Valley, the fragrance is one of my all time favourites Albertine Rose, tough as old boot and is currently out growing an ivy by auntie betty

Talkback: Growing cyclamen
. People who grow lots of hellebores also hae trouble with black death if they do not spread them out a bit. Makes you think nature knows best, Pippa, and large greenhouses with thousands of plants in them are not what cyclamen plants like. Perhaps we by gardnerjon

idea's please
garden ready for lots of plants that don't grow so well in my exposed garden with little shade. Clay soil is usually very rich in minerals, so once the soil structure is improved you will be able to enjoy hostas, hellebores, primulas, pulmonarias, acteas by tomalli

clay soil so little choice of plants
is actually very fertile and will grow all sorts of things.  It's just hard to work.  There are other threads lower down about how to improve clay soil by adding plenty of sharp sand, fine grit, well rotted compost and manure to break up the clods.    You need by Renu

Where is everybody from...
packed with some nice plants....been told its eye catching.Back garden is of same size featuring veg patch, small pool, hexagonal greenhouse, fruit bushes and espalier and cordon top fruit and lawn. Both front and back gardens are "walled"I grow lots by Huntertony
