Californian Lilac
and I am not too sure about it. My soil is clay and during the summer months we can have droughts. Would I be best to grow this in a pot? And would it flourish there? Hello, Roly. Ceanothus (Californian Lilac) love sun and well-drained soil by Roly1959

Looking for flowers to 'fill in' a border
could grow from seed or buy small plants from the garden centre.  They should flower well into the autumn red or white astrantias? Tradescantia - likes shade, pretty colours. I am planting some in my own shady border sometime this spring by Chris 7

Purples in my garden but what colour for you?
I love purple,/red foliage and purple flowers in the garden. Cotinus Royal Purple, berberis atropurpureum, acers. Heucheras, pittosporum Tom thumb. Physocarpus Diablo, red grasses, the purple black acteas, etc. etc. And the flowers by Verdun

Mini Greenhouse - door open or closed?

Talkback: Growing veg in shade
as alternatives to all that weird yellowy heuchera plant - at least you can eat lettuces and can get some really pretty ones like green or red salad bowl. Red mustard is also a nice salad crops with pretty leaves.I grow a lot of globe artichokes in my garden too by Pink Heather

of it though as any disturbance exposes the soil and then they can get in to lay eggs.Dahlia lover - in various pots I grow honeysuckle, geraniums (cranesbill), heuchera, jasmine, London pride, hebe, clematis, campion, passion flower, hellebores, Japanese by Chalkweed

Garden gaffes
