Talkback: Hollyhock rust
My first year also growing a hollyhock, again planted last year and did nothing, and I have had rust and scrapped the plant. May try again next year as I think they look so lovely. I planted hollyhocks last year, nothing happened! However by Bathcat

I've had hollyhocks this year for the first time ever.  Is it possible to plant the seeds once they've died back and grow some more?  They have a lot of what appear to be seed pods. Thanks, Una. Those nobbly buttons are seed pods. Hollyhocks should by Supernanauna

Hi There, this is new to me so I am just looking for some advice about how to grow a hollyhock, is it the same as a foxgloves, somebody told me they are nicer and I got one down at the garden center at half price as they were dying out due by damien

june to september.           Yes common mallow is no 2. Looks just like the ones growing down the footpath near me. You can see that hollyhocks come from the same family, but much bigger flowers. Thanks Aliesha, thats good to know. It's great by Hollie- Hock

yellow rust on hoolyhocks
i have alot of tree frogs that live in my yard so i use no chemicals, but my hollyhocks have been attacked by what looks like bright yellow scales and brown egg like spots on the under leafs.what can i do non chemically to stop the deaths of my by danielle giampappas

'm really proud of it! I have found that this works very well with hollyhocks, the seeds are large and easy to handle can i take the seeds out of a pepper and grow them I have been given some hollyhock seeds could you advise me when to plant them by jeni777

Help... I have some lovely Hollyhocks in the border which are growing really well, but the large leaves are being infested with rust on the underside.  As a result the leaves curl up and die.  This happens every year, the flower spike develops by sterelitza

Hollyhock Rust
Hi All, My hollyhocks have been decimated by rust this year. I normally get a little bit but its just been stupid this year. The plants are half of what they normally are.Spraying has been totally useless as it was never dry for more then a day by Sparklepinksunflower

Advice on slug free plants
to the dreaded slugs so the war is on against them.  Do you know if they like achillea?  I had some lovely Hollyhocks that had survived a number of years but the slugs ate them last year, they were climbing to the top of the plant which grow to some 6ft and over by sterelitza

Seedlings
I have some young seedlings which have been growing in an unheated greenhouse, will they be ok over the winter months or should I bring them into somewhere warmer or frost free? The greenhouse has bubblewrap up for some protection, but the plants by Karen7
