Wild hosta
rid of them. Please help ...... I don't think they are hostas. Your description sounds similar to something that is growing just outside the garden. The leaves almost go into a point? Can you take a pic? Sounds like Arum maculatum - aka Cuckoo pint by Livey

Shade loving plants
Has anyone got any suggestion for the  long narrow garden at the side of my house, it gets very little sun along the border next to a low fence. I want something that will grow  quite quickly to about 2 mtrs maximum , preferable with flowers by Sizeyuk1

Plants or flowers from seed
can sow seeds. If perennials, then hostas look good in pots - there is one with a lovely purple flower, some have more flowers than others. Also heucheras for the different leaves, corydalis, liriope and several hardy geraniums will grow in shade. What by bunnysgarden

What is this?
Can anyone identify this plant? It came up where I planted some 'Rip Van Winkle' daffodils several years ago. Thanks. I think it's Juncus effusus - often used as a marginal or bog plant but will also grow in pots if it gets enough moisture (which by Nicky Dewfall

Meconopsis- blue poppy - lingholm. Bareroot hostas
hydrangeas, even tulips survive the clay. Also received  some bareroot hostas should I pot on first and plant out in a few weeks? The meconopsis do well in scotland in damp acid woodland type conditions.   I grow them from seed, but I sow the seed in late by dizzylizzy
