hostas among purple heucheras in a semi-shaded corner look great at the moment. I'm always envious of anyone who can grow hostas in a border. I have to keep them in isolated pots - even so, they get eaten by September, as by them nearby plants by auntie betty

Slugs and snails - help needed!!
in the morning (too busy watching telly at night); that's not quite as effective as nighttime, but I find it more convenient, and it saves having to use a torch too. It still works, and I have almost-pristine hostas and lupins.If they have an attractive home by fraggle84

Spring ideas
arrives. It's getting a bit late for some bulbs but you can certainly still plant daffodils and crocus, and tulips next month. Avoid snowdrops, though - they will have dried out out of the ground and probably won't grow. You can plant tulips until December by Emmaandsam Emmaandsam

a very miserable lady.
. Hostas as hardy as old boots. One of the perennials I noted growing in Swedish gardens...and they survived the Scandinavian winters. Slugs are partial though. You need to protect the pots, for the sake of the pots, not the hostas!  They are as tough by dudsybabe1

and some very large shrubs which each cast their obliging shade. But I don't mind this location. Near the house I have Fatsia japonica (which I know is bigger than you want) and together both areas have hostas, Alchemilla Mollis, Crocosmia, Acanthus by Cultivating Carol

whats eating my runner bean leaves
the round....4 out of 7 plants are still growing but they have all been eaten....any ideas anybody as to what is eating the and what can I do ..Please !!! I have thought of putting some white fleecey stuff over the to prevent what ever is eating them getting by flowergirl4

Idea's for a North American Themed garden
