Talkback: Derelict gardens

Some pics of my before and after garden
as with most new estates and we overcame this by putting trellis to our existing wall and fence and planted honeysuckle, pyracantha, roses, ivy, jasmine.  We also added two pergolas over which we have grown wisteria, roses and clematis.    We also added a small by Lavender Lady

Looking for evergreen climber
Hello, I hope someone can help! At the moment we have got ivy growing on a fance but we want to get rid of it as it . is self-clinging and always wants to climb up our house wall. So we're looking for a climber that is evergreen and is preferably a by Hapsen

clematis, they are evergreen and provide shelter for wildlife.  I have a lovely ivy leafed winter clematis called Cirrhosa "by Tina_i_am

Hedging
it will be great. Don't be tempted to let it grow up to get height quickly. It won't thicken up if you do that. Cut it. Don't let ivy move in to start with. A mature hedge can cope with a bit and it's wildlife friendly but can seriously compromise a young hedge by stuart 5

good wildflowers for low Victorian garden wall?
I have inherited a lovely, 3 ft high Victorian garden wall - it's lovely and rough, with moss growing here and there. Have transplanted some sedum cuttings onto it, which are taking well, but wanted to know if anyone has any other tips for good by freshairfanatic

Side of House
have a photinia Red Robin in a tub just now, it's about 2'+ in diameter & can't think where else to put it.  I also have a golden sambucus growing at the back which needs to be moved which could go there & several other shrubs, eg weigelias, spireas by Highland Jeannie

Too chilly to plant now?
spring. Consider though what you want form this area, do you want to fill it with perennials or could it be filled with a mix of annuals also. how about growing some of your own food here mixed in with the shrubs, standard fruit bushes can make good focal by CuriousGardener

What is this weed?
plagued with ivy-leaved Toadflax, this has red stems and green leaves, it grows everywhere and regrows even though I pull out. Does it look like the pic in the link below :- http://www.dgsgardening.btinternet.co.uk/toadflax.htm Hi- sounds a bit like a by Sarah Townend
