composting
but the blackberries seem to love it. There are lots of conflicting articles on using ash in the garden (I think it depends on what your growing and what your soil ph is. On the subject of ivy and moss, I never put them into compost as I'm not 100% sure of any by nightgarden

Geraniums
Now the question is which is yours?-I am guessing a trailing pelargonium?   Non-hardy bedding geraniums have a soft round leaf with a very distinct strong smell. Non-hardy trailing geraniums have a very stiff leaf which resembles an ivy leaf by Chris9

Sick ivy plant....any advice gratefully received!
Hello Everyone I am new here and apologies for my ignorance - I'm a beginner gardener. At the moment though I have a sick ivy, which has been doing well for about a year. I moved it to my office about 6 months ago and it seemed alright. Recently by Cheery Planter

Birds nesting
Well I am both happy and upset. I was going to get out this week and cut back the ivy growing up my house. But I have noticed that it has become home to wren's and robins making nests. Happy to have my little friends back again this year but now I by discodave

Encouraging birds to the garden
hide.  In my old garden we had massive privet hedges which were full of birds but sadly we have no room for hedges now. The birds love our holly tree, and the ivy that's growing up the trellis.  As well as providing shelter, they're both great by cloud8

Talkback: Bees and bee flies
And there was I thinking my ivy arbour over my old pear tree was just for the blackbirds. Thank you, Richard, for great blog on bees. I can't wait for this wind to die down to get out and do some voyeuring among the ivy. Really interesting by happymarion

Campsis radicans
? It is what I would describe as a vigorous self clinging climber, that will grow to around 20 feet up and nearly as wide, great for pergolas and arches, or in my case a warm south facing wall. It has aerial roots, a bit like climbing hydrangea and ivy. Mine by diggingdoris

Autumn and what now?
friendly garden you need a variety of plants that flowered from autumn to spring. Hi everyone. We have quite a lot of fences with ivy growing up them. The bees absolutely love the flowers which last well into the winter. ChrisX lovetogarden wrote (see) We by Cia
