Climber wanted for a shady wall.
and sunflowers. However there is a high wall at the other end of this border which appears to be in shade most of the day. I will dig up a few foxgloves to put in for starters but is there a climber tolerant of shade to  grow up the wall?  Ivy is not too popular by daydaisy

I have a wall that is actually the back of my compost heap and want to grow a climber up it.  I have tried a some clematis but they died over the winter because although its a south facing wall it is also very exposed in winter. Any ideas - I would by Whinnie

would have to be minimal.  I don't think there's an easy answer for you, unfortunately.  If there's mostly moss on the lawn you're mowing, it's probably there because the grass won't grow well under those particular prevailing conditions.  Is it very by Les2

Who's afraid of varginia creeper
and water regularly until the climber has established, as the soil around mature laurels is usually dry and poor in nutrients. Ivies and creepers do not cause damage to walls. They take advantage of damage caused by weather etc and grow into it, often making by Percy-Grower

Gourds !!
. They are a nice size at present, five in all and look like courgette plants. I've got mine in the GH and bring them indoors if forcast frost. I'm not sure whether they'll grow up a trellis or whether they grow on the ground. I don't even know how tall by JAYPRINCESS

getting on with the neighbours
the fence on one side we keep inheriting bindweed, ground elder, brambles & bindweed from the other! Also ivy galore, invasive bamboo runners & lilac runners. They let tree saplings grow right next to the fence that lean on it & have cast the area where by Gardening Grandma

Vigorous climber needed
it and give a beautiful spread of flowers through early summer, but as I say it will drop its leaves. The only thing I can think of that will cover it year round and not drop its leaves is the old Hedera ivy's, but a lot of people find these too invasive. It by Brilith
