what can i use instead of plastic pots
't want to have to buy any plastic pots - when I think of the hundreds I must have thrown away over the years.  Only got my greenhouse this year and have been going mad growing seeds.  Any ideas would be appreciated. Origami some paper ones or toilet roll by Lavender Lady

Unknown beetle..
for you. I'm not preaching but we kill everything we don't like and then complain there are no bees, butterflies or birds. Beware if you grow lavender, these buggers love it, i found the easiest way to get rid of them is just collect them, to escape by Jules63

clay soil late summer flowers (slug proof but bee friendly)
in to get some colour.  Ive bought lavender to attract the bees but wondered if anyone had any ideas? - i've lost so many to slugs and our clay over the years. I have clay soil (old brickworks next door) and Japanese Anemone grows well, but they do seem by Ems2

Plants or flowers from seed
Though my pergola which is shaded partly by the house I would like to have some flowers, I would love lots of lavender in my dream world but I can barely dig the ground due to hoggin track when building . I am thinking of placing tubs or troughs by bunnysgarden

Under a conifer
lots of roots near the surface that steal all the water. One plant that I have that does grow under a conifer and is evergreen is periwinkle (Vinca). Mine is Vinca Minor with lavender blue flowers and it's a bit of a thug to keep from spreading by Stephanotis33

Subscribers' club discounts
Green Magpie, My free perennials arrived, but as others have said they were tiny! Packaged in thimbles!  I was disapointed but they are now looking much better growing on in small pots. I would expect that the 36 lavenders offer will be of  the same size by Ian4602

Lavender
Now what do i do, do i plant them in pots first or into the ground? Dan x I have successfully kept lavender cuttings and small plants in pots for many months until their final home was decided. As long as I remember to water them ...   ;- ) You by Doctor_63

crispy black edges to some of my plants' new leaves
My dwarf acer, bay tree (in pot), one clematis and a lavender all seem to have a problem with new leaves - whilst the plants are still thriving in themselves at least for the moment, most of the new leaves have developed black edges which are crispy by freshairfanatic

Steep bank
with normal soil. Many thanks my brother had this problem. I suggest you could put four legs on a sturdy trellis and hammer legs into ground so the trellis is raised by 6 to 8 inches then plant a fast growing clematis to grow over it so it acts as ground by MontyDan
