Talkback: Seed Club - early seed sowing

Talkback: Growing shallots
beds to furter inrich the soil there. Does this sound like a good environment for shallots to grow. Don't plant your shallots too closely or plant anything leafy amongst them as a catch crop (like lettuce)I did and I think because air didn't travel by Chantal

Talkback: New year's resolutions
they will be ready to plant out on 15th of febuary.I plan on growing oca this season successional sowing would be great to crack I had to buy a lettuce which realy anoyed me in the summer I did manage to keep tomatos and cucumbers going for months, herbs and spring by jane

Is everyone else's plants very late this year?
the poppies were flowering by now. Most other plants are at much the same stage as they were last year. I always keep my garden notes each year so I can check back . As you say tho', hopefully if we get our summer !! everything will grow at a pace. Here by Lunarz

How To Start Veg Growing
as a stupid question to a gardener (other than would you like a cup of Tea?), folks on here are lovely and have given me no end of brilliant advice. Tony. If you only have a small space - make sure you use every inch. Like grow lettuces under emerging by tony68

year we have done a fruit / veg garden, my kids are loving it, they have their own patch, so far they have tried and enjoyed eating raddish and lettuce, lots more growing and my son who will not eat anything is even intrested in trying the veg he has by jonny 5

feeding
plants please?   I'm also going to try nettles this year as a result of a Gardeners world article last season showing someone growing tomato on nettle  liquid as a result the plants looked superb. I have also read that it is really good for leafy veg by nightgarden

Seedlings and 'true leaves'
,  they have yet to grow their 'true leaves'. Can anybody tell me when they should appear ?  or have I made a grievous error ! Thanks    Chris It is the poor light-the only error is possibly starting too early-when you come to prick them out bury the stems by Chris 7

Gardening in Afghanistan
weeks, it will germinate and grow a few inches, then wilt. The onlt thing I have been sucessful with is Geraniums, I have tried Roses (3 died and only 1 is still growing, Sunflowers, Onion, Lettuce, Squash and some wild flowers.  I have added local by Budgieo
