Gardening in Afghanistan
weeks, it will germinate and grow a few inches, then wilt. The onlt thing I have been sucessful with is Geraniums, I have tried Roses (3 died and only 1 is still growing, Sunflowers, Onion, Lettuce, Squash and some wild flowers.  I have added local by Budgieo

Sweet peas

baffled by strawbs and a mystery plant
hi i'm quite new to growing fruit and veg and continue to be baffled by the things that happen in my veg patch! i've had some great advice from this forum which has helped me no end. so i've come back to ask some more questions which i've been by Mizz

Completely new to veg growing
it hot. Whereas Runner Beans don't seem to be that fussed. Jackie frost; Lettuce, rocket, carrots (which are cheap to buy, but home grown are delish) If I had space I would grow globe artichokes - I did when I first moved here and one plant took up almost by jackie frost

seedling help?
to sow outdoors now. I think they climb and are, apparently, edible! Hi Paperflowers, thanks so much for the encouragement!  my lettuce is growing so that's one good thing.  And I did read that you can sow carrots every 2 weeks now for a continuous supply by Lisa Ward

Talkback: Hens in the vegetable patch
put anywhere I want my hens to work for me. They clean up but aren't able to eat my new lettuces before I do. Great, this is what I call useful - plenty of hints for me too!! The hens are lucky in that they have a huge run with lots of undergrowth by hell

)artichoke soup.  Still hoping (story of my life!) Yes that section is just for the chokes ( underneath the low fencing I've put a couple of rows of lettuce for now) An old spud plant has reared it's head (top lefthand corner) and it seems to be growing in harmony by Andrew Kenneth

peas from the supermarket, cheap and handy. French beans are another suggestion. you can still grow salad crops such as lettuce.carrots,spring onions, peas,beans,turnips (milky ones) I would also put some potatoes in for a christmas harvest. what have by bobloes

When to plant seeds?
