Talkback: Growing and harvesting lettuce
lettuce comes from when the Papal seat moved to Avignon, France. Although you will have to ask a historian why, however the locals picked up the habit of lettuce growing which was eaten by the clergy. The leaves being lightly cooked, which was healthier by hereisabee

lettuce
I have decided to try and grow lettuce again, each time I fail miserably. When the lettuce seeds germinate is it safe to prick them out to where they will finally grow, or should they be sown into where they will finally grow, HELP I've just sown by KIDDY2

. brassicas and spinach, lettuce and it's varients will do ok, but not their best, leeks again will do ok. You can grow lettuces and salad leaves, leafy veg such as spinach, chard, broccoli and brussels sprouts, and peas and beans. But not in full shade, OK by Sue H
