Talkback: Dealing with lily beetle
for it to squeak I grow my lilies in pots, and submerge the pots weekly in a rain barrel for 30 mins, and scoop off the beetles with a jar. I leave the lidded jar in the sun till they die. This is an easy method and I have very few catches since ai have been doing by Tim Burr

Pick your collective garden brains here. I have a jewell border, based loosely on one that was at Chelsea a few years ago. Through my Carex bronzita jewell coloured plants grow up.   I have peone 'Buckeye bell'. Salvia nemerosa carradonna, Rose by Matty2

frosted lilies
Back in March, when we had a few nice days, quite a few of my potted lilies decided to grow.  They got to between 4 - 7 inches in height, nice bushy leaves on top.   Then came the snow and very, very hard frosts with wind chill.  Most of the tops by Bookertoo

overwintering
is growing well. Should I have treated it as my Canna Lily and kept it in slightly damp soil in a frost free place over winter? The Canna Lily is now growing strongly. I was under the same impression and on inspecting mine today found it had rotted away by willowplanter

Lilly Beatle
get these on my Lilies and I find the only thing is to pick them off and discard them as you see fit, a bit labour intensive. I never use any insecticide as I also grow a lot of veg in my garden and do not want any run off etc etc... Yes but I agree by asbestosbike

Crown Imperial
My big orang lily has flowered and is drooping and dieing back now. I think it is Crown Imperial (Fritillaria Imperialis) as it has very long stems and the flower hangs upside down. Question is, what to do now? Cut the stems and let other plants get by Nick Adcock

Planting Oriental and Regale lilies
I bought a dozen lily bulbs at the flower show 5 days ago, and i know I have to plant them asap, but with my planting plan still evolving, I'm not sure where to place them.  Could I plant them in plastic pots this year, and then, when they are about by happycottontail
