I ca't get Lilly of the valley to grow!
's garden in the hope that, if they grow there, they will grow here You're not alone. Although they have a reputation for spreading it took me 3 goes to get them started.  Lily of the valley either doesnt seem to grow or it will become a weed. For years I by RN58RAN

Lily beetle
, urghh ! On a recent tv gardening program, a lady who grew lilies commercially, advised a spray of garlic 'juice'. She didn't say any more than that so I don't know quantities or how to make up? Would growing galic near the lilies do the same? Has anyone by SilverFairy

Lily bugs
in there then.?     Like most beetles, they can fly and are attracted by the smell of lily plants.  They are an invasive species which are not native to the UK but are now extremely widespread here - so much so that some folk have actually given up growing by Kernowmaid

ornamental grasses
. How about Lilium lancifolium?  Just pick off the lily beetles every day without fail. and a lovely late summer, autumn flowering allium - Allium tuberosum?  Grows to two feet and white flowers. I have a dark red/black grass in my garden. Not sure how by green fingerd will

Ornamental alliums
I thought they were quite hardy plants but it seems lik of the three that I planted last year, only one seems to have made it through the monsson season. It seems also to have killed my asiatic lilly too. Lilies definitely don't like the damp by Swedboy

Please can somebody ID this plant?
really but sure someone will help you out. I know what you mean about feeding the birds - I had to re-position mine. All sorts of weird and and wonderful stuff growing underneath the feeders. It isn't cannabis-I have one in a pot in the greenhouse by Charlie6

Lupin problems
hundreds of ladybirds and I certainly do not want to kill those, or their strange looking young.  I prefer to grow lilies in pots of which I had two white and two orange up until last year when I decided to test the garden with a pot of each variety, but I by Yellow Daisy

that has flowered for 2 years running. I covered the crown with a good layer of straw and peat, and a big pot. Do you think it will bloom again this year or have I been foolhardy and lost the plant? I can't see any new shoots yet. I also grow canna lilies by Lorrie Flannery

Help with thuggish peruvian lily problem
I have bought a new house and my flowerbeds have been taken over by peruvian lily. They have really pretty flowers but they are growing in the lawn even they are that aggressive. I had enough and dug them up last weekend- guess what they are back by David 23
