Talkback: Lemon verbena
. I don't know if I am imagining it, but I recall my parents (Sussex) either growing it, or making a spray of it, to keep cat spray from odouring the air around the front door. What can anyone tell me, please? I bought mine at the garden centre by Philippa

Talkback: Growing veg in shade
Sorrel is lovely crop to grow in shade, even dry shade. In my garden it grows under a clematis montana which grows under an ornamental cherry. It requires no real attention and produces tangy, lemony, tender, heart shaped salad leaves by Pink Heather

Can anyone help me identify whether this is a weed or a baby seedling?
these in the photo - but it does look as if it ought to be something wanted rather than weedlike - on what basis I could not actually say!!   I totally agree. It looks like a plant growing with pride and purpose, rather than a furtive looking weed! I left them by cosmic_girl

I'm the kiss of death to herbs it seems......
Okay, so I sow all seeds as instructed on the packets/gw site - they include Parsley, Basil and Chives....and if I'm lucky a few will germinate, grow about an inch tall then keel over and die on me:/ ....I don't overwater them and keep them on my by The Manic Slughunter:)

Belfast sink.
lot of basil - could I grow that with the other ones mentioned and what sort of compost would I need ?  I know mint is invasive but really fancy having a go at growing the others. At one time I was considering strawberries but don't know much about by jean riley
