Container potatoes and veg
Watched a couple of Monty's videos re growing spuds and shallots in containers....he had a bin for the spuds but just a metal bucket for the shallots.  Has anyone tried the shallots like this? Was thinking of trying it with shallots and red onions by Brycey D

That's shallot!
Verdun, Yes, the shallot bulbs will send out several shoots each and slowly 'split' with usually 6-8 new bulbs forming in a circle, so I grow them about 8-10 inches apart.  Like onions, they're greedy plants so give them plenty of feed.  I usually trowel by Verdun

Walking onion
Has anyone tried growing the japanese walking onion.   I was reading about it the other day and was wondering how easy it was to grow - and how much space is required.   Anyone with hands on experience out there? I don't understand that why by chickenlady

Shallots first time
I am growing shallots from sets for the first time. Planted out in early April and making good growth. This week flower buds are starting to appear, should they be removed so that all the energy is concentrated in the bulbs or left to mature? Your shallots by Terence Jones

Onions and garlic
I have a few autumn planting shallots, onions and garlic sets that I did not get round to planting. Will they grow just as well if I plant them as Spring sets? Does anyone know if they are different varieties? Any help would be appreciated. Richard by rmenmuir@btinternet.
