. Just pop the onion bulbs in the ground about 6inchs or so apart either just cover the tops or leave alittle bit poking out, protect from birds though. Water well and wait. Onions are easy to grow as long as you keep them weed free as they don't like by Edentoy

Onions getting seed heads on
Hi, we are growing onions in our garden which have been doing very well, but they are starting to get seed heads on them - should I remove them? Any help would be much appreciated. Yes, remove the flower heads and make sure you use those onions by BarbaraJoan

Aphid onion attack
My growing onion sets have been attacked by little green bugs for the fourth time now - can anybody help? I didn't think aphids were supposed to like onions! I can get rid of them initially using soapy water but they keep coming back! They seem by Charliemnb

japanese onions
Hi Can anyone tell me do I water these or just let them grow normally under cover to prevent winter frosts? I have put them under cover and they are growing like the other onions but apparently they do not need watering until spring. Is this correct by Lickle Den

onion sets
. I believe it's to do with using the 'food' contained in the bulb to produce foliage. Later, when they have foliage, they can use it to photosynthesise. Then they are able to grow the bulb and make the kind of onion that can be harvested. Have a look by kevin merriman

. Shallots sold in supermarkets here in Switzerland also contain 2 bulbs. Oh no Swiss Sue they grow the size of a Jaffa Orange so big like a normal onion wld be but as I said alot when peeled have split inside (obviously while at the growing stage) their skin by galest

Onions
I planted 4 rows of onion sets last October. They started growing normally before the cold weather set in, and stayed dormant over the Winter,as usual. I have just been down to my allotment to find the very tops of all the shoots have been eaten, I by RogerB2

polytunnel
