Onions and garlic
I have a few autumn planting shallots,
onions
and garlic sets that I did not get round to planting. Will they
grow
just as well if I plant them as Spring sets? Does anyone know if they are different varieties? Any help would be appreciated. Richard

Carrot fly
blighters! Keep a layer of fine horticultural fleece over them, my friend has had wonderful carrots since she started doing this. It is said that
growing
onions
nearby helps, as the
onion
fly and the carrot fly get confused about the smells. Don't thin out

spring onions
Why do my spring
onions
take forever to
grow
? I am still waiting for those planted as seeds last year to get to a size big enough to eat- the seed packet said they'd only take 6 weeks- not more than 12 months! I have tried them in pots
