Talkback: Growing ornamental poppies
I did not know you could shear back ornamental poppies and maybe get a few flowers later on! Will give this a go this year! No mention of how to get these plants. Do I wait until summer and buy from a garden centre, or can I grow them from seed by Patricia16

Slug resistant plants
, Dicentras, Thalictrums, Clematis, Ornamental Poppies, Mecanopsis, Lily of the valley. The Rudbekias are just about hanging on, but not a single dahlia has survived, nor the Morning Glory & Black eyed susan. Abandoned the sweetpeas & runnerbeans & salad by christopher2

. I also have a large border that is open to the elements and also on a hill, I have hebe's, foxgloves, hollyhocks, lupins, poppies, cornflowers , echinacea, correopsis, ornamental grasses and verbascum.  Thanks for the advice. Im new to gardening ,It by lottyh40

Buddleia turning yellow
the stems. Leaves are turning yellow as well. There is some new growth, it's the previous years growth that's turning yellow. I did have ornamental poppies around it, which I have pulled up because they went yellow and blotchy. Can anyone tell me please what by Freebie Queen

Talkback: Summer bedding plants
, detest bedding with a passion....mainly for the reason's you stated. I prefer to grow perennials from seed and watch them grown into strong mature plants over the years. I tend to fill up with cosmos and california poppies where possible, but inevitably by sarahs pondlife...

Alchemilla Mollis into a tray to grow on and yes-yes, this will become a pest in a few years time but not yet  I love so many things about this plant and its only real drawback is that it wilts a little in the hottest part of the day (big girls blouse). I by Wintersong

some ideas for things thata might not have come naturally.  Mine are: bergenia, because its huge evergreen leaves show everything nearby off brilliantly (and snails eat my hostas). You do need huge clumps though. hardy geraniums, because they grow by auntie betty
