hardy palms
they will be fine with. The cerifera (blue form of chamaerops) is hardier than the standard green but slower growing, again it is ideal for a pot. The Hardiest palm would be a Trachycarpus Fortunei, but it will grow much quicker than the previous mentioned and once by sunnylou

Torbay Palm
Like many others across the UK we have a 10ft Torbay Palm which unfortunately 'died' last winter after being relentlessly battered by the cold for two years.  Having left the trunk in place and patiently waited, we now have several new palms growing by Garden Maniac

Torquay Palms
Is it possible to take cuttings from Torquay Palms?   I lost both my palms in the harsh winter but now have a total of 15 growing from the base of two plants!   Can anyone help as I feel that this number of plants growing in one place will be a tad by Niggycat

Easy to look after House Plants
I would like some easy to look after house plants to fit in my uni flat. Do you have any suggustions? Spider plants are easy to grow, can be hung up high once they start growing and are good for combatting pollution e.g. from monitors. Cacti by Lou-Lou

Tropical garden
agree bamboos. (need to confine them) tall grasses, palms, Phormiums, can help achieve this. I think it's better to grow things your environment, soil, geographical situation and skills support. It makes for easier gardening and happier plants by bluejan

Damping off help
some people double up and then later remove the weakest seedling. Always seems a bit wasteful to me. I don't have the space in the flat to grow them in indivudual pots hence the mulit occupancy. The first lot germinated so badly I put all the rest by Swedboy

cordiline palm
I had a cordiline palm about 10 feet tall. in the winter of 2010 the bad weather stripped it if all its leaves. I left it in, hoping it may come back . Instead 5 new ones grew from the bottom.  Then the high winds we had blew the original down.  My by karen dennis
