Cheap seeds

Why did you all start gardening?
helped my dad with the weeding and hoeing. Then when l was five l was given my own small patch next to the greenhouse where l would grow radishes,lettuce,a few peas l would always eat raw,candytuff flowers l would grow for the faeries to pick! My jobs by Busy-Lizzie

Redesign of garden
the circle is a very small patio area in the same coloured stone, enough for a garden bench and at about 45 degrees across the circle is a small deck which is slightly raised to create height interest.  We have a huge cornish palm growing up through by Kate Bradbury

Pound shop plants- any success stories?
well..the dearer trees from nurserys didnt do as well as the cheaper buys Morrisons up here are selling fruit trees (Bramley apple, Victoria plum, Concord pear etc) for a fiver, which seems amazing. I've bought all mine now but would give the Morrisons by Surbiton_Margot

Talkback: Preparing gardens for spring
has given them all the encouragement they need to grow ! So I've been out weeding - it is a relentless task but I found them easier to extract with the soil being that much softer. It also stops them getting a head start on everything else. Enjoyed by Flowers

to cut back the pear tree a bit, Tree Peony has leaves growing, most of the roses also; will have to spray against black spot this week, and so it goes on. At this time of the year every day is an adventure. Artjack,  what exactly is a Tree Peony ?  Ah by Rainjustlearning

to be shrivelling. To add insult to injury the BBC have removed the GW episodes from iPlayer! On the apple problem has anyone any idea why this would be, or is it down to the wettest June on record? The 3 cordons which are growing in the ground seem fine - so far I by gardeningfantic

I'd put splitting down to heavy rain following a dry period. I'm not sure what part of the country you live in, Dawn, but fruit splitting can be a problem with many fruits, including tomatoes. The fruit's skin grows quite slowly, and if heavy rain by Dawn Hambleton
