. But I do love nibbling at the sugar peas and cannot resist the odd plum or blackberry. definately a harvester,got to learn for next year to plant less or buy 2 more freezers. I am definately a grazer, however with the bi-daily spraying with washing up by Grannyanne

against orange flowers until my husbands friend started giving me his spare Tigers Eye marigolds and galardia plants that he grows from seed now l rather have a soft spot for orange and gold flowers.and my dear old neighbour opposite me loves all my bright by lilysilly

I tried growing three varieties of Minarettes this year from Ken Muir, but must say that I wasn't thrilled with the success. You mentioned that your young tree only produced two apples...is this normal for their first year in the ground? I had by Ian Galland

disappointment. If the trees give good apples when they do produce, try not to get uptight about duff years. They happen. My gorgeous quince had lovely blossom this year and lost it in a late frost. The damsons vary all the time. My Victoria plum was a winner by Trey

The free tomato seeds on the mag cover
toms with lots of fruit. They grew into 4' plum tomatoes plants that tasted yucky. hah - I remember buying a bunch of 'dwarf' gladioli corms for the front garden - spectacular, but enormous! I grew Maskotka last year, outdoors,  and they were very good by Sandra 2

which is no longer available. We have some scorch damage but we have had a lot of damage to fruit due to the three hail storms we experienced in July. Plums, apples and pears are all pitted, however the raspberries ans black current seemed to have by Stonehenge

best way to clear grass and brambles under trees?
I have an area approx 55 sq yards of grass and brambles and trees that I want to clear for additional veg growing.  What's the best way to remove brambles and grass?  I can't afford to spray it , and am not sure how effective laying plastic or mulch by weedygardener

factor... i would suggest cutting off the runners and even removing the fruit trusses in the first year...keep one plant to get runners from but treat the others as described..they are an easy plant to grow but protect any fruit and watch for slugs by Martyn Bottomley

sanity in need of restoring
and bushes and last year was able to plant the last tree a plum. all seem to have managed OK in pots. Though do need watering. It may give you time then to sort out all your other garden problems. Hope this helps Bjay Just looked at your other threads. A by Bill Mansfield
